Story of Sorts......literally

In the attic, there is something out of the ordinary, but to say that it is out of the ordinary is an understatement, to say that it is terrifying or out of this world or any other words that are used to describe anything frightening for that matter, fall short of how it really is when it is in you…

It first begins with a gnawing sensation of feeling like you forgot something, after awhile it goes away, and the feeling does not return for years, but once it does it starts out the same, the only difference is that the gnawing feeling grows to be a feeling of anxiety. That anxiety then grows to be a feeling of being paranoid. But then the paranoia abruptly stops, you stop feeling like there is a shadow following you constantly, the shadow that caused you to see and hear abnormally terrible things are gone. You feel safe thinking that you will forget, but it has a nasty twist in that you won’t forget, and because you don’t forget, it grows in strength. And as it grows in strength, so does your fears. You worry so much you try moving your family, but when you try, you are encountered with looks that tell you that they won’t follow you. So you stay because you don’t want to leave them behind to whatever terrible fate they might face in the house. But the thing is, it’s not them who will suffer a terrible fate, it’s you, you are the black sheep, the marked target. If you had known this, you would have known that you would be the cause of destruction that will shower upon your family, if you had known, you would have known to isolate yourself as much as possible because that is the only way to keep loved ones safe. But since you think the house is the one with the misfortune, you decide to stay and face whatever terrible thing the house will unleash upon your family members. A noble gesture to be true, but the house isn’t the one full of misfortune for your family, it is you.

Weeks pass by and you start to feel ill, and not just human ill, but evil ill, paranoid ill; you-will-die-horribly ill. You look around at your family wondering if they feel the same, but they go about like nothing is wrong and this infuriates you, you want to choke them, slap them, punch them, and do just about anything just to make sure that they come to their senses that are clearly being manipulated by whatever evil misfortune it is that you feel. But, here’s the thing, they are in all their senses alright, it’s just you who is “ill”, it’s just you who is marked for the cruelest death there can ever be. And so you keep going like that, slowly becoming insane, until one night, you hear a noise. You stay listening for awhile before you realize that the noise is coming from the basement, but then that noise stops, and so you think you only imagined it. You lay awake for awhile wondering whether or not you imagined it, but then you see your partner sleeping beside you and you think if that noise had been real, my partner would have woken up as well...so you decide that you had only imagined it, and you go back to sleep. The next morning, you decide to ask your partner if they had heard something strange last night just to make sure that you were imagining it. Your partner answers no, but you feel somewhat uneasy instead of relieved as you had thought you would feel.
